Alright guys, my shows are done and over with. I'm in a bulk for a year and a half now. If you choose to seek advice, I'm assuming you are willing to work hard and can take fair criticism, if not, I might not be the one you'd want to seek it from. If you dare to handle an open and honest answer to your questions, feel free to fire any questions and I will try to get to them as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
I am well versed in all aspects of training and fairly experienced in athletics, powerlifting, and bodybuilding. I used to be a training director at Bally's and was IFPA certified in Personal Training as well as Nutrition. I have given a lot of time and work back to the bodybuilding community, this is just one more avenue that I am willing to participate in and hopefully help you all in your endeavors.

Essential is a dynamic term meaning absolutely necessary. I personally do not consider waximaize a NECESSITY but more like a LUXURY when it comes to carbs. A simple mix of a lil glucose, fructose, and dextrose is efficient enough for growth when it comes to post workout carbs. This being found in most postworkout shakes. However, as I said, a LUXURY in bodybuilding is a good thing to have in your arsenal if you can.
Benefits of waximaize.... Dense carb, drives nutrients into the glycogen storage/muscles, cleaner and will be used more efficiently than other sugars (opposite would be a fast acting glucose or fructose which can be useful but not as useful as it's life is short lived)
Proper protocol for waximaize is to have it with you, and drink it ALONE (No protein with it!) as soon as your workout is done. Then when your drive home is complete, hit up your Whey proteins. (Adding more carbs with this shake as well if you choose....) This ensures absolute absorption and refueling the glycogen stores, and also lets the protein (introduced 20-30mins after the waxi) to sweep in behind and do it's job as recuperative and rebuilding.
Hope that helps you a bit. My personal preference in pre and postworkout protocol is this.... AT LEAST FOR BULKING ANYWAYS... (when dieting I rely heavily on BCAA's and a hungry belly so to speak before workouts)...
If feasible with budgeting.....
Micellar Protein or a WeightGainer 30mins to an Hr before the workout
BCAA's, Extend, or Accelerade (even Gatorade) during... granted I lean on the weightgainer/micellar still being digested and my workouts not lasting too long so this step might not be as necessary
Workout ends, and guzzle a Waximaize, or again a quick gatorade/simple sugar just to rush nutrients into the glycogen stores (muscles)
As soon as I get home (usually 30 min after working out as there's always people to talk to, posing, or simply driving home) I hit up a whey protein (weight gainer at this time)
45min to An hr after that I hit a solid meal REAL FOODS of complex carbs and clean protein
So yeah that's my nutrition protocol for my workouts.
ANYMORE Q's? Bueller? Bueller? People keep bringin the Q's and hopefully I'll keep bringing the answers!
Never drink the waximaize alone!! why transport only one nutrient(you only mentioned glycogen), when you can shuttle even more important nutrients along with it. A little more in depth about waximaize.......it has a very high molecular weight, therefore bypasses the stomach and is directly absorbed in the small intestine, now waximaize is a complex carbohydrate, so you are actually absorbing a complex carb right into your blood(normal carbs have to be broken down into monosaccarides to be absorbed and converted to glucose and then glycogen.......ok, so the importance is to mix some creatine and BCAA's along with it to shuttle these even faster to the muscles.....yes creatine monohydrate can be used here, but never creatine mono without waximaize...(otherwise you would have to use ethyl ester or krealkalyn), this is because the super fast absorption of the waximaize will pull the creatine monohydrate into the bloodstream before it can convert to creatinine(a waste product of creatine when it reacts with the hydrochloric acid in the stomach) and correct, you cant use whey protein with it because this will change the molecular weight of the waxmiaze thus affecting the absorption rate(making it slower)
so there you go
BIGJ
this comes down to a budget/product preference for the user. obviously the science is there, thus the product is there. if it were me, a product like volugro would make it an easy decision for me, and i'd also be pressed to also pickup a regular bottle of krealkalyn as well.... to use in the morning and prebed. if feasible budget wise, i'd go with both. if again on a budget, the products like volugro, combine 2 into one and usually save on the budget and on shelf space and also less things to remember to take. so yeah, get the volugro, when you're done with your shows! ;)
